Web Casts
Web casts will occur approximately two times per year and all Web casts will be added to the InformeDesign Web Cast Archives. Web casts are recorded broadcasts, available free of charge by a renowned expert in the field of design and/or human behavior. Continuing education credits for Web casts are available through ASID-simply fill out an Evaluation Form from this Web site.

InformeDesign is always interested in hearing your suggestions of who you would like to communicate with from the research fields of design and human behavior. To make a suggestion, please go to Feedback to send us your idea. Announcements of upcoming Web Casts can also be found in InformeDesign's Calendar of Events.

NEW WEB CAST
In InformeDesign's newest Web Cast, "Building a Better Cubicle," acclaimed lighting and office productivity expert Guy Newsham, Ph.D., senior research officer with the Institute for Research in Construction with the National Research Council Canada (NRC) addresses how the design of open-plan offices affect noise, visual distractions, and privacy in the workplace.

Today, nearly 40 million North Americans work in open-plan settings, and approximately 60 to 70 percent of all offices are open-plan with cubicle work stations. This type of workplace type is becoming increasingly popular not only in North America but around the globe. Current trends in the design of such environments include smaller cubicle size (to contain costs by accommodating more employees within a limited space) and lower cubicle partition panels (to increase communications among employees). During this Web Cast, Newsham discusses the impact of these design decisions on overall employee and office productivity.
